It’s Good To Be The King

the king Some guildies and I adventured in Dire Maul the other day. The instance is divided much like the Scarlet Monastery. There are two wings and a central area which we decided to run first. The central instance in Dire Maul is a lot of sneaking around, passed guards, and through locked doors. The goal of this instance is to not kill any of the named guards because they pay tribute (phat lewts) after you defeat the king, the less you kill, the more tribute is paid. :D The fight with the king was not easy. I have about 5500 buffed hit points which is probably average if not a little on the low side. The king has a mortal strike attack which critical hits for about 2000! We wiped once and had a couple close calls the second round, but in the end we were crowned king of the ogres and there was much rejoicing.

LOLOLOLZ YOU DIED ON TEH KING!?!? nooberface

just so you know… when u kill the king and become friendly to the dungeon you can still go back and kill captain kromcrush and get MORE phatster lewstz(we got a 777 armor bp, 17str/stam, +15def, and a 53dps polearm). AND you can go and talk to all the bosses you didnt kill and they will give you freaking uber 2 hour buffs, like 30% stamina, +attack power, + spell crit, and whatnots.

you should also really do west side even though its a little more time consuming, you can get uber pants with + % to crit.

What sort of group makeup did you have?

We went in with a 58 warrior, 60 paladin, 60 priest, 60 warlock and a 60 rogue, and this instance was really hard. We wiped on the captain, since we didnt have the ogre suit to sneak past him at that point. =/

The druid wouldnt heal me until I was like 25% health and the guy would crit me a lot lol!

Yeah we got the buffs but didn’t kill anyone hmm…

  4. Hogit Says:

There was myself (59 Warrior) a 60 Hunter, 60 Mage, 60 Druid, and 58 Paladin.

We had the ogre suit so the middle instance was pretty easy except for the MS crits really messed me up. :P

okay here is how you do it for all you crazy DM noobs.

    Group setup: Warrior, Priest, Shaman/Druid/Paladin, Mage/Warlock, Rogue/Hunter

Ideal group: Warrior, Priest, Druid, Mage, Rogue

You do NOT need the ogre suit to get through Kromcrush. When you are right before him, have the priest shield the rogue/hunter. The rogue/hunter then runs forward to grab the agro of krom, then runs immediately to the left corner. As soon as rogue has his attention, the entire group runs into the right corner. When the group is through the rogue/hunter will vanish/feigndeath to lose agro, then goes back to the group in the right corner.

A full north dire maul run should take approximately 45 minutes with no screwups and fighting no bosses but the king.

I don’t think I have ever died on the king. The captain is actually harder imo. DM is pretty fun, I still have not done the instance without killing the named guards.

  7. Hogit Says:
