Hogit's Story

It Adds Up At The Anvil

Hogit and Elessedil crafting at the Black Anvil It’s always surprising to me when I am asked to craft Dark Iron armor for materials only. I am told “it won’t cost you anything,” or “all you have to do is push a button.” Do they forget the items can only be struck at the Black Anvil? Do they know that learning the recipes required turning in 2400 Dark Iron Ore? Most importantly can’t they see I don’t have an epic mount? :) My fee has been 10% of materials. I know enchanters who markup 100% of cost! So please give the Hog some love and stop being cheap! Ok, rant over and out. Hogit did get a request from a reasonable player who understood the value of the black plate. The materials were supplied for a Dark Iron Helm and Dark Iron Shoulders. Hog smelted the buyer’s Dark Iron Ore at the Black Forge, and Hogit and Elessedil “duoed” their way to the Black Anvil (we rok teh drawfs). A COD for 30 gold later and another satisfied customer!

Hogit's Story

Unbreakable

Hogit looking for Foror's Compendium of Dragon Slaying in a dusty tomeElessedil and I have been spending a lot of time in the ancient city of Eldre’Thalas. Now known as Dire Maul it holds Queen Azshara’s most prized arcane secrets. On this night we discovered a very rare piece of lore unlike any we had found before; the Foror's Compendium of Dragon Slaying. Only the Lorekeeper Lydros would be able to decipher the entire book because we could make out very little. The shattered seal of the Athenaeum covered its surface and the text inside was barely legible.

Rumors exist of a single, legendary blade of Quel’Serrar crafted for an unknown entity by the combined might of the five Aspects. Over the course of 8,000 years only a handful of these blades were created - each blade unique in both power and appearance. The blades of Quel’Serrar would take on the characteristics of their creator.

Hogit and Lorekeeper Lydros The Athenaeum houses the ancient texts of Eldre’Thalas and is tended by the Elves. Lorekeeper Lydros besides upholding the Dewey Decimal System is the Loremaster of the Athenaeum. We entered the silent library through a long tunnel in the North entrance of Dire Maul. The Elves, eternally at work gave us no notice. Elessedil and I approached Lydros who stood near a tall bookshelf filled with thick tomes. He immediately recognized the Foror’s Compendium and without asking began translating the garbled text. Not only did the Loremaster uncover the history hidden in the pages of the book, he also held in his position one of these raw and unfinished ancient blades of Quel'Serrar.

Take the unfired ancient blade to the lair of Onyxia and engage her in battle. Some trickery must be utilized for the heating of the blade. While in combat, she will surely try to incinerate you with her fiery breath. You must plant the unfired ancient blade nearby and hope that the fiery breath heats the blade. If you live beyond this, pick up the now heated ancient blade and finish off the dragon. Plunge the heated ancient blade into her smoldering corpse to fashion the treated ancient blade.

Slaying a dragon, not to mention Onyxia, is no solo task even for a Dwarf. Hogit would need an unbreakable army, he would need Ilterendi.

Hogit at Onyxia with Ilterendi The Ilterendi guild has a solid reputation on the Silvermoon realm and a few of the guild’s members knew Hogit from Enlightened Exiles. Hogit made his intentions known and the response was a resounding, yes. The following evening Ilterendi would escort Hogit into Onyxia’s domain to heat and temper the Elven blade. Stocked with bandages, major healing potions, and fire protection potions; Hogit met with Ilterendi in the Southern Dustwallow Marsh. Voluptuous pirates and black clothed ninjas led the charge and we engaged with the dragon. As Onyxia’s strength wavered Hogit ran up and planted the blade just in front of the beast. In no time her fiery breath had heated the blade and soon after her corpse lay on the floor. Hogit drove the heated sword deep between the dragon’s scales and the now treated ancient blade was ready.

Hogit with Quel'Serrar sword Riding high on adrenaline Hogit traveled back to Dire Maul. Elessedil met him at the North entrance and they quickly found themselves in the presence of Lorekeeper Lydros. Muttering something unintelligible under his breath the Loremaster took the blade and fashioned the sword Quel'Serrar. Ancient runes glitter across the surface of the blade which glows with a green wyrm like presence; perhaps a residual effect from the dragon Onyxia herself. The beautiful blade of Quel'Serrar is a major milestone in Hogit’s history, thank you again Ilterendi!

Hogit's Story

My Liege

young Warrior bows My Dark Iron armor piques lots of interest but rarely like the response I received today. An up and coming Warrior no doubt traveling to the Darkmoon Faire stopped as we crossed paths through Goldshire. The armor he wore mirrored mine save for slight differences; a mixture of mail of varying levels. It was not Dark Iron but I could tell the suit was painstakingly selected to model the black plate. He stood as if in a trance, “I’ve been looking for you.” Surprised I asked, “Really?” Out of respect and admiration he was down on one knee, how embarrassing! :) I like attention but wow! I half expected him to present a ring! We talked for a little while and I extended my crafting services if he could gather materials. Thanks for the compliments and good luck to you!
