Hogit's Story

World of Warcraft Blogs

When I first put together the theme for Hogit’s Story I also created a generic World of Warcraft WordPress Theme. It has been available to download from the WordPress website and once in a while I get a mail requesting it. But I have never really seen it in action until now.

I was browsing the Technorati.com listings for Hogit’s Story and came across a few other World of Warcraft blogs using the old theme I created.

Gronky's Story WoW Blog Gronky’s Story is about a Tauren Druid named Gronky. He has been exploring the different quests during Winter Veil, leveling fishing and cooking, and gaining rep with the Frostwolf Clan to buy one of the wolf mounts. He is a member of an active guild which looks to have gone as far as Firemaw in Blackwing Lair. Cool website Gronky!

Myriade & Co. WoW Blog Myriade & Co. follows the adventures of six various characters in Azeroth. Myriade is the main character, a Warlock at level 25. She mentions that up until level 20 the Warlock was pretty fun but has been struggling since. I have a Warlock alt up to level 29 and am still having a blast! Stick with it Myriade I’m sure it will get better.

Die Altvorderen WoW Blog Die Altvorderen which according to Altavista means something like “The Old Front” I’m not sure if it’s a guild name or what but it sure sounds cool! :D I think his character name is Caedes and he seems to enjoy a lot of PvP as well as some PvE. He links to a post in the forums where it looks like a group of Alliance tried to tour Orgrimmar but was not greeted with open arms. Even though I can’t quite read the details I already know why. :D

I setup a SourceForge project where you can download the old theme featured here and any of my current themes.

If you have a World of Warcraft Blog using my released WordPress theme send me an email I’d love to check it out! dwarf [at] hogit (dot) org

Hogit's Story

Winter Veil

presents for Ironforge A pleasant surprise awaited Azeroth on the day of Winter Veil. I half expected nothing more to happen this year besides the one new quest. But to my surprise there were new presents for everyone under the tree in front of the Ironforge bank. Everyone over level forty was allowed to take five gifts so between my three Alliance alts I had a total of fourteen gifts! Oh and Cornpo the Night Elf Druid gave me the schematic for the SnowMaster 9000.

Snowman lord of the Molten Core Many of the elite encounters have been dropping special items including red and green Winter Veil hats. Some of them have even been dressed for the occasion but I was very surprised when we summoned Ragnaros and instead were greeted by a giant snowman! How he stays so frosty in the core I will never know. Still no Legplates of Wrath for Hogit but I did get the second drop of Bracelets of Wrath from Razrogore, my first Wrath piece!

Onyxia O RLY?

Hogit gets the Onyxia buff in Stormwind Recently I did some research on Onyxia who was giving us a little more trouble in Phase 3. Arsenal Team was not alone it seemed her aggro issues were quite common. The Phase 2 to Phase 3 transition when she lands is very critical and the main tank has to be ready to grab aggro. But even more importantly the raid needs to be ready to stop anything and everything that might generate a bit of aggro. As we have geared up so has the raid’s DPS and this makes controlling aggro on Onyxia more difficult.

This is what I gathered and we have been focusing on making the transition much smoother:

For the raid

  • Stop dots at 42%
  • Everyone move North to Phase 1 positions
  • Stop all attacks when she emotes to land
  • Stop all healing, no heals over time, no bandages
  • Do not break the first fear
  • When (not if) you get aggro run North to the main tank

For the main tank

  • Build initial aggro off the whelps
  • Stand directly under her and bandage when the warning comes
  • Immediately start sundering when the red indicator appears
  • Use every threat generating skill you have
  • Pop a rage potion and repeat the above if needed

Ways for the main tank to avoid the fear are Dwarf Priests obviously (LOL@Horde) unfortunately we don’t have any, but I do have my Glimmering Mithril Insignia and there is also the Insignia of the Alliance. If your trinkets are on cooldown you can alternate with Berserker Rage when it’s available.
